Coil forklift in Itacurubí del Rosario

Coil forklift selection and industrial applications

Coil forklift equipment is engineered specifically to handle heavy cylindrical cargo, such as steel coils, wire spools, aluminum rolls, and paper reels. Lifting cylindrical loads with standard forks creates unstable contact points and risks damaging material edges. A dedicated coil forklift uses a heavy-duty coil ram attachment that enters the center core, distributing weight evenly and securing the load during transport.

These units operate in river ports, manufacturing plants, and bonded warehouses in Itacurubí del Rosario, San Pedro. Using purpose-built coil attachments ensures safe handling, protects cargo integrity, and maintains steady operational flow.

How to choose the right coil handling configuration

Selecting the right equipment requires assessing several operational requirements:

Capacity and load center: Coils extend the load center forward. Machine capacity must account for coil width, diameter, and ram length to avoid derating.
Attachment type: Choose an integral ram pole for hollow coils, an adjustable spreader for wire bundles, or padded clamps for exterior surface grip.
Work environment: Consider mast height, door clearances, aisle turning space, and floor load limits in container yards or warehouse bays.
Power source: Deploy electric units for indoor air quality or combustion machines for open outdoor yards.

How much is LPG costing your operation?

Operating forklifts on liquefied petroleum gas generates multiple direct and indirect operational costs:

Hourly fuel consumption: Lifting heavy coils requires high hydraulic pressure, increasing continuous fuel consumption during every working shift.
Cylinder procurement and logistics: Purchasing and managing pressurized gas cylinders requires regular supplier coordination, delivery scheduling, and administrative time.
Downtime during cylinder swaps: Replacing an empty bottle requires parking, disconnecting valves, securing a replacement, and testing seals, halting production.
Ventilation in enclosed areas: Indoor combustion requires mechanical exhaust extraction systems to clear exhaust gases.
Storage safety measures: Pressurized cylinders demand dedicated outdoor cages, fire safety perimeters, and regular safety inspections.
Engine maintenance needs: Combustion motors require periodic oil changes, filter renewals, spark plug replacements, and exhaust upkeep.

Evaluate these cumulative expenses across your shifts, and contact ELEVA to request an operational cost comparison against electric forklifts.

Advantages of an electric forklift

Switching to an electric forklift provides significant operational advantages for coil handling:

Zero exhaust emissions: Electric drive units produce no fumes, making them ideal for enclosed warehouses, food facilities, and cold storage environments.
Quiet operation: Low noise levels decrease operator fatigue and improve awareness in busy terminal environments.
Fewer engine parts to maintain: With no engine oil, filters, spark plugs, or exhaust components, electric units reduce routine servicing requirements.
Recharge based on shift patterns: Battery recharging during planned breaks eliminates cylinder storage, fuel handling, and external supplier dependencies.
Smooth torque delivery: Electric motors provide controlled, instant power, enabling precise boom alignment with coil cores.

These benefits translate to lower maintenance demands and improved workplace conditions.
