When to buy forklift equipment for your facility

To buy forklift units for an industrial plant, warehouse, or river terminal in all of Paraguay requires evaluating operating hours, load profiles, and internal traffic flow. Outright purchase is the logical choice when machines run on predictable daily shifts and represent permanent assets for your facility. Owning the equipment eliminates ongoing rental commitments and integrates directly into company assets.

Companies frequently evaluate whether to buy or rent a forklift based on operational capital priorities. Purchasing secures dedicated machinery configured for your exact workflow. For light to medium material handling, ELEVA supplies new and pre-owned forklifts, manual pallet trucks, and electric pallet trucks up to 7 tons, ensuring reliable performance across daily operations.

How much is LPG costing your operation?

Internal combustion forklifts powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remain common, yet running expenses conceal substantial operational friction. To determine what LPG truly costs your facility, evaluate the full operational footprint:

Hourly fuel consumption: Gas consumption varies with load weight, ramp travel, acceleration, and engine hours per shift.
Cylinder exchange and inventory: Maintaining cylinder reserves requires dedicated outdoor storage, safety cages, and supplier deliveries.
Downtime during cylinder swaps: Each cylinder swap stops operations to handle pressurized containers, creating cumulative downtime.
Ventilation and air quality: Indoor combustion requires continuous mechanical ventilation to disperse fumes and heat, increasing utility costs.
Storage safety protocols: Pressurized flammable gas demands strict fire safety buffers and personnel precautions.

Mapping fuel usage, labor handling, and ventilation overhead reveals your true operating expense. Contact ELEVA to request a direct comparison between your LPG costs and an electric forklift setup.

Advantages of an electric forklift

Transitioning from internal combustion machinery to an electric forklift delivers clear operational gains in modern logistics, manufacturing, and distribution:

Zero exhaust emissions: Electric forklifts produce no greenhouse gases or toxic fumes. This makes them essential for enclosed warehouses, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and cold storage where air purity is critical.
Quiet operational acoustics: Electric drive motors operate with minimal noise, improving facility communication, driver alertness, and overall workplace safety during long shifts.
Fewer powertrain components to maintain: Electric drive units eliminate engine oil, filters, spark plugs, belts, and exhaust systems. Fewer moving parts translate directly to simplified maintenance routines.
Recharging aligned with operational shifts: Instead of handling heavy pressurized gas cylinders, electric trucks recharge at dedicated stations during scheduled breaks, shift handovers, or overnight pauses.

These features ensure clean working environments, predictable energy costs, and high equipment availability.

How to choose between purchase and rental options

Selecting the right equipment requires matching load capacity, duty cycles, and acquisition models. For businesses operating distribution centers, grain facilities, or manufacturing plants in all of Paraguay, choosing between purchase and rental depends directly on required tonnage.

Equipment sales up to 7 tons: ELEVA sells new and pre-owned forklifts, manual pallet trucks, and electric pallet trucks up to 7 tons for pallet handling, container stuffing, rack loading, and production lines.
Equipment rental from 10 to 46 tons: For port operations, container terminals, and heavy industry, ELEVA provides rental solutions from 10 to 46 tons, including heavy forklifts, reach stackers, RTG and STS cranes, terminal tractors, and Meclift equipment. Heavy new equipment from represented brands is quoted upon request.

For operations utilizing legacy machinery from brands like Toyota, Hyster, Kalmar, Linde, Yale, or Clark, note that ELEVA does not represent or service those brands. Instead, ELEVA provides equivalent technical alternatives from represented manufacturers such as Hangcha, Meclift, Genma, Westwell, Jiangsu, and JMG, matching required load capacities, mast heights, and attachments.

Equipment acquisition and support through ELEVA

Acquiring equipment through ELEVA combines technical consultation with structured support. Part of the GV group with over 15 years supplying equipment to ports, terminals, and industries, ELEVA serves river terminals, bonded warehouses, logistics operators, and manufacturing facilities.

New equipment from represented brands: Factory warranty and assisted installation on Hangcha forklifts, Genma and Hangcha reach stackers, Meclift container-entry units, Westwell autonomous AGVs, and STS cranes.
Inspected pre-owned units: Overhauled equipment in full working condition with limited warranty, with inventory updated monthly.
CMMS IntegraOne management: Equipment tracked via IntegraOne software, recording hour meters, maintenance history, work orders, and asset availability on a client dashboard.
Certified technical support: Field technicians operating from our branch in Ciudad del Este provide preventive, corrective, and emergency service across river ports such as Asunción, Villeta, Encarnación, Concepción, Pilar, Alto Paraná, and industrial facilities in all of Paraguay and nationwide, as well as Brazilian ports.
Consulting and operator training: Technical specification, fleet sizing, route optimization, special import assistance, and operator training conducted in partnership with clients.

Common mistakes and practical acquisition checklist

Procuring material handling machinery without operational analysis leads to costly site bottlenecks. Addressing critical factors before acquisition protects your workflow:

Overlooking load centers: Forklift rated capacities decrease when handling loads beyond standard center distances or when using specialized hydraulic attachments. Always confirm derated capacities on official load charts.
Ignoring dimensional clearances: Verify door openings, rack aisle widths, and container entry heights to ensure the collapsed mast and overhead guard clear all facility structures.
Mismatched tire specifications: Using smooth cushion tires on outdoor gravel or uneven port surfaces causes rapid wear and loss of traction, whereas pneumatic or solid resilient tires suit rougher yards.
Disregarding electrical infrastructure: Adding electric machines requires evaluating facility electrical supply, charging locations, and shift routines.

Before selecting equipment, review lift heights, collapsed mast dimensions, operating hours, turning radius, and power infrastructure with ELEVA specialists.
